The Tree of Life.

It was Buddha who said:

"A tree is a wonderful living organism which gives shelter, food, warmth and protection to all living things. It even gives shade to those who wield an axe to cut it down."

The Tree of Life. Pencil.

This is an unfinished sketch which doesn't yet have its main surreal element.

The ‘Tree of Life’ represents the family tree of mankind. The cause of its demise being the axe. The axe is a man-made tool, symbolising that mankind itself is instrumental in its own destruction.
